Nigeria is the biggest and most populous country in Africa. Indeed, one in every five Africans is a Nigerian.
Nigeria worked hard for the independence of Africa, including South Africa. Since Nigeria is becoming synonymous with instability, it is using its influence to spread this undesirable concept to the whole of Africa.
Uhuru Kenyatta, the incumbent of Kenya was born prior to the country’s Independence. His father, Jomo Kenyatta, was champion of the country’s independence and its first president. Therefore, he could be rightly described as the father of the nation.
“Uhuru” is the Swahili word for freedom. Uhuru Kenyatta was seen as a providential gift to his father towards the Independence of Kenya.
Uhuru, an Amherst College graduate, and the son of a freedom fighter, has become a paradox of his name. He has allowed some unscrupulous and tyrannical leaders to rubbish his revered name. In order to please and curry the favor of autocrats, he has developed the habit of kidnaping and extraditing political asylees to their countries of origin to be tortured, humiliated, and imprisoned. This is an act of extraordinary rendition. This uncivilized behavior is against international law and fundamental human rights which his name epitomizes and his father was celebrated for.
The latest in this unenviable list is Nnamdi Kanu, a Nigerian British, who is fighting for the Independence of his ethnic group, the Igbos of Southeast Nigeria.
Kanu was lured to Kenya. On his arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Nairobi, Kenyan and Nigerian covert and regular security forces surrounded the plane, pulled him from the airplane, and whisked him away to an unknown private location. At the secret location, he was tortured and humiliated for almost two weeks. After mishandling him, he was transported to Nigeria for the humiliation and torture to continue.
A few years ago, Kenya treated a Turkish prisoner of conscience in a similar manner.
Right now, the situation is getting worse for Igbos of Southeastern Nigeria. Any of them in transit through Kenya is kidnaped by the Kenyan authorities in collaboration with their Nigerian colleagues after identifying him/her as an Igbo indigene. Some of the abductees have not been seen since their abductions nor been heard. They don’t have access to their families in Nigeria nor any attorney.
Although Uhuru Kenyatta has denied involvement in this wicked act which is antithetical to his name, he is doing it to please President Muhammadu Buhari who has described the Igbo tribe as a dot in a circle and declared his determination to wipe them out.
President Uhuru Kenyatta may not know the sufferings of the Igbos within the Nigerian federation since Independence in 1960. The tribe has not fared well under any government in Nigeria since 1960 till today.
The difference is the president or the head of state of a particular regime. The situation is worst since 2015 under President Buhari who has vowed to deal ruthlessly with the Igbos. He had boasted that 2 million of them were massacred during the Nigerian genocide of 1967 – 1970 in which he participated as a young military officer. He has not hidden his firm resolve to destroy the whole tribe this time around.
He had claimed that the tribe gave him 5% vote and the rest of the country 97%. This was how he started his regime contrary to his inaugural speech of “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody,” pretending that he would be a father to all.
Because of his highhandedness and bias against other tribes of Nigeria who are not Hausa/Fulani or Muslims, many self-determination groups have emerged. He described them as terrorists and sent his military and police with a clear mandate to deal with them mercilessly.
The official but murderous forces had killed thousands of innocent youths especially in the Southeast of the country.
The so-called “repentant” Boko Haram members are equally given military uniforms and sent to the region to kill. Recently, one of them in an attempt to commit suicide in an elementary school in the region, ran out of time and the bomb exploded at the school’s gate, killing him instantly.
While he told the groups agitating for self-determination that government was stronger than any group, he treats Islamic terrorists with kid gloves. He sponsors them, pays them, and has an official negotiator for them. His negotiator for the jihadists told the public not to call the insurgents terrorists. That they are gentlemen who have the interest of the country at heart.
Just few days ago, Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, conducted its governorship and other elections for Borno State in the northeast of the country. They elected their governor and made many appointments, including judges, commissioners of police and taxation, etc. President Muhammadu Buhari is aware of this scary development and has done nothing to stop it.
We have said on this platform before that unless the world is careful about the situation in Nigeria, One World Islamic Caliphate, that is, Islamization of the whole world could start in Nigeria.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, over to you. The Nigerian security forces you have allowed to intrude into your country are there on a mission with a hidden agenda.
